OHMYGOSSIP —  A new study published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology shows that the words we use on Facebook are pretty revealing—and further, that you can probably peg the personality type of most users based on their statuses.

Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania analyzed common words in the posts of 66,000 Facebook users after they’d taken a personality quiz, which measured for the Big Five personality traits used in psychology: extroversion, openness, agreeableness, conscientiousness and neuroticism.

As it turns out, introverts are more likely to discuss topics of interest like computer, internet, read, anime while extroverts commonly post with words like party, girls, tonight, amazing, love!

(Yes, exclamation points included. Surprise, surprise!! Bet you’re thinking of  totally OD on the “!”?) Take note of the “neuroticism” word bubbles as another fine example of how word usage seems to highly correlate with a given person’s personality… Kind of exactly what you’d expect, right? While the world is usually does not fit a predictable cookie-cutter shape, I guess stereotypes exist for a reason… and sometimes do play out in real life!
