Helena-Reet Ennet: First year has been a big success!
Exactly one year ago we opened the first women and entertainment directed news portal in the Estonian language, Gossip.ee. “It is a very special and wonderful feeling that we have acomplished so much despite the recession and gradually but firmly gained more and more readers,” says Gossip Media LLC founder and CEO Helena-Reet Ennet.
During its first year Gossip.ee has offered wide-ranging entertainment – news, interviews, articles, expert assistance, photo galleries, varied news from abroad, polls, games and prizes. There have been about 450 interviews with well-known Estonian people and celebrities and there are over 5000 different interesting articles in Gossip´s archives.
A number of Estonian public figures have written their columns and several coworkers have edited foreign news and made interviews for Gossip.ee. Special thanks to Margis Valdek, Marianna Link, Maris K. Kerstin Kotkas, Liis Eenpuu, and our bloggers Hannah and Anni-Mari Kaasik. Thanks for contribution to Triin Tulev, Mari-Leen Albers, Eha Urbsalu and others.
“One year ago when Gossip.ee saw the daylight we set our goals in one year perspective and tried to predict the possible number of readers during the first year. Both our goals and the number of readers have exceeded our expectations over and over again. Already in December 2009 one million unique online readers had visited Gossip.ee. Our most read stories have been clicked at for more than 120 000 times. The original plan was to open a Gossip.ee-like women and entertainment news portal in English “Ohmygossip.com” directed towards foreign countries in the future, but in fact we succeeded in opening it already this winter,” says Helena-Reet and adds that the first year has been a big success which will be celebrated with great joy and peace of mind.
“Although a great deal of publications are exclusively ours, we are planning to considerably increase the number of exclusive articles and interviews during the years to come. We also wish to expand the social network functions. Another plan is to glance towards foreign countries, first and formost towards Finland and to some extent towards the USA, Latin America and Sweden,” Helena-Reet Ennet says. “There are several ideas that have deliberately not been realized yet, so that Gossip.ee would be a more equal partner to our future partners who have already welcomed us, and in order to communicate on a even higher and more professional level. Actually, my head is on the verge of “exploding” – there are so many ideas,” Helena-Reet, the founder of Gossip Media LLC, jokes. She also wants to emphasize that it is good for the company to expand gradually, step by step. “I´m not in favour of massive financial investments in the company, instead the idea of the project has to be so enduring that it is sustainable,” Helena-Reet believes.
Gossip.ee has worked together with both Estonian and foreign journalists, web portals, newspapers and magazines. Our special thanks to Delfi.ee, Publik.ee, Kroonika.ee, Ohtuleht.ee who are our regular partners. We also thank Chabad.org, FaceControl.ee, Mees.eu, Mood24.ee, Naisteleht.ee, Inimene.ee and every other Estonian and foreign portal that has been cooperating with us.
Thanks also to Zone.ee who hosts the dedicated server and Scanpix.ee, PR Photos, Ajakirjade Kirjastus, Photo Banks of Kanal 2 and TV3 and all photographers who have supplied us with pictures, especially Meelis Tomson and Indrek Galetin who have always been of great help.
Gossip.ee thanks its IT Director Kenneth Valdek, who has developed and kept a good eye on our technical side. Last but not least, many thanks to Gossip Media LLC Financial Director Margus Pärn who is also our greatest financier.
Gossip.ee has not forgotten charity and our highest priority is supporting the children. “Gossip.ee was opened on the Child Day, June 1, 2009, which is a good sign – children are our future, they have to be taken care of and loved. Gossip.ee has supported all the projects concerning children for free. We have cooperated with UNICEF, Tartu University Children´s Fund, Pelgulinna Maternity Hospital, Estonian Children´s Fund and several other organizations. We are going to support children in the future as well,” says Helena Reet.
Many thanks to all coworkers and partners! Happy Birthday Gossip.ee!
